Apoptosis, 2024

Writing

While I have written several plays back in university, one being my creative writing thesis titled FWB, I was so lucky to premiere my play Apoptosis at the 2024 Winnipeg Fringe Festival this past July.

Peter/Wendy Rehearsal, 2018

Directing

Directing Peter/Wendy in 2018 was exciting, but nothing will beat making my Winnipeg directorial debut with a play I wrote, Apoptosis.

Mamma Mia, 2019

Performing

A majority of my theatrical work lays behind the curtain these days, but my love of performing will always play a key role in my day to day life. Being the Manitoba representative for Musical Theatre at the 2019 National Music Festival will forever be a highlight for me.

Apoptosis

First written in 2017/18, I resurfaced Apoptosis to finally bring it to life on stage during the 2024 Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival. Expanding on the original 15 minutes, the show now runs at 45 minutes.

It is a one-act drama about a young couple involved in a car accident who must face the consequences of their choices during the past year.

Follow the gripping journey of Sam and John as they navigate the aftermath of a devastating car accident, where the spectre of losing each other looms large. As Sam grapples with the terrifying possibility of life without her husband, John's struggle to recover intertwines with the haunting echoes of a recent miscarriage, pushing them both to the brink of despair. With emotions running high and the stakes higher than ever, Apoptosis ignites a thrilling exploration of love's endurance and the power of human resilience in the face of unimaginable adversity.

  • The death of cells which occurs as a normal and controlled part of an organism's growth or development.

  • APOPTOSIS is defined as ‘a genetically directed process of cell self-destruction.’

A very medical term, I chose this to highlight the essence of this one-act drama. Sometimes, cells need to die for healthy growth, and sometimes, relationships need to reach their breaking point before they learn whether to come together, or fall apart.
