Shaw Spotlight
A little about my work Placement
My second, and final, work placement of my program was with Shaw Spotlight. It was really exciting to be able to put my media production skills to use as I got to be a second shooter for two separate videos, and I also had the chance to film, edit, and produce a couple of my own videos for their section ‘Community Link.’ It was amazing to work with the Shaw team and I really do hope that I get the chance to work with them again in the future.
It's not a Gopher, or a Prairie Dog, it's a Richardson's Ground Squirrel
The Richardson's Ground Squirrels are critters that inhabit the grounds at Assiniboine Park. They are native to Manitoba and the Canadian Prairies and are commonly mistaken as Gophers or Prairie Dogs.

Pound Pups get Breaks by Going on Doggie Dates
The Doggie Date program at Winnipeg Animal Services allows people to take a dog out of the shelter for a couple of hours, a day, or for up to a week. It gives pound pups a break from the shelter and can be a great solution for animal lovers who can't have a pet of their own. Shaw Spotlight tagged along on an outing with Gus and Maxine as they take in the sights and sounds of The Forks in Winnipeg.

Solo Creations
Manitoba Museum - Shaw Spotlight Community Link
One of my favourite places in Winnipeg is the Manitoba Museum. As a kid, whenever my parents and I took a trip to the “big city,” I begged them to take me to the museum. Sure, the polar bear freaked me out, and to this day I refuse to step onto the Nonsuch, but it always amazes me what you can find within the walls of the museum.

Qaumajuq - Shaw Spotlight Community Link
My first ever published article was about the opening of Qaumajuq. It just felt right that the last thing I created for my work placement - and my program - was a video about the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s Qaumajuq once it opened. I love the WAG, and seeing this space, and reading and hearing about the art, it was truly a magnificent experience.
