All the World’s a Virtual Stage

About the project

During the second year of the Creative Communications program - specialization year - the Media Production students had the chance to pitch Kim Bell from Bell Fibe TV1 an idea for a four-part docuseries. This was especially exciting during a pandemic as it limited the potential locations/personalities/etc. After the first round of pitches, it came down to two students to pitch a second time – this time, they needed to have actual characters, locations, etc., not just a vision.

I titled my idea “All the World’s a Virtual Stage”, of course, stemming from my love of Shakespeare. It was also a clear indication of what the docuseries would focus on - how theatre turned digital during the pandemic.

My idea was chosen and I got to be the Executive Producer. I helped my classmates troubleshoot, delegated roles, and also found a place to really show off my love of theatre.

Trailer

The trailer was a mashup of footage from all four episodes and includes the logo and icons I created to keep a cohesive look for all four episodes.

Episode 01

Prairie Theatre Exchange

As the Executive Producer, I got to choose which groups filmed each episode. I chose my group to film episode one as it involved a few more moving pieces than the others. (i.e. there were union members involved and I did not want to have my classmates deal with all the extra work it took to film the episode.)
